Defrost on Tapas

Defrost and My Grandmother’s Funeral back at home

Since both “Defrost” and “My Grandmother’s Funeral” were on Tapas and it’s closing, I moved them both back to this site. So check them out. If you run into any issues, such as broken links, please let me know.

I haven’t read these in a long time and am pleasantly surprised by how well they hold up. There are plenty of issues in both, but a lot of the main emotional beats hit. But it’s funny how in both of these stories, I basically took an experience from my life, changed the sex of the main character, and took away a lot of the support factors that I had during these experiences. So the characters are more alone and more vulnerable than I was. They are basically “what ifs.” What if I went through that experience without the people I had who supported me? So in a finny way, these stories make me appreciate what I had (and have). But, in “My Grandmother’s Funeral,” it’s also fun to hear my grandmother’s voice again. For me, that’s the most important thing that the story keeps alive.
