Kit Kaleidoscope works in a graveyard during the day and struggles with their painting at night. During the town’s annual carnival, Kit encounters a musician. They run into him later, but struggle with their insecurities. Meanwhile, Kit’s fellow gravedigger befriends an elderly woman. Her stories cause the gravedigger to confront his own history. The painful details of his past bear some striking resemblances to Kit’s own problems. So the gravedigger tells Kit about his dead lover, a poet whose struggles with his art ended up consuming him. The tale has a profound effect on Kit and so they attend the carnival one more time.
Carnivale is a wordless comic about art, relationships, and storytelling.
