Funding for educational programs halted
In one of my jobs, I work for TRIO Upward Bound and Math/Science Upward Bound. TRIO is a federal program that started in 1965 to help first generation and low income students get into and stay in college. It has a long success record and, as recently as last year, has received bipartisan support in Congress.
Starting today, funding to TRIO had been frozen by the current administration. I humbly ask you to contact your members of Congress to advocate for TRIO and other threatened educational programs.
Here is a template to use.
Thank you.
Just an update. A judge said that since TRIO is grant funded and the grant has already been approved that the federal government cannot stop funding because it would violate the grant. So TRIO is safe. To the end of this school year, anyway. We’ll see what happens come August.
Meanwhile, the National Endowment for the Arts has lost its soul to the current administration:

And 1,000 national parks employees have been fired, which instead of creating efficiency will create chaos, especially as spring comes around and people go on vacations.
