updating links to “In Water”
I was going through the site a bit last night and realized that some of the links on the about page didn’t work anymore since the sites that they linked to were gone. Literary and arts journals usually rely on outside funding and so often come and go. One such journal is Red Fez, where I had my story “In Water” published back in 2018.
So I uploaded the pages to my site and changed the link on the comics page. You can see the story here.
I did “In Water” on Canson watercolor paper. I laid the inks down on the smoother side and then did an ink wash on the reverse, cold-press side.
I married the two images in Photoshop, cleaned them up, and added the colors.
This method helped to keep the inks nice and crisp. Doing a wash over inks tends to wash out the depth of the blacks. Also, having the ink lines made it easier to drop in the colors.
I still am not sure I understand this story, but I like it. Emotions are more interesting to me than logic, anyway.
Nice short story, makes you think. And I liked the coloring work there as well.
Thanks. I like how the coloring turned out, too.
